Mug O’ Inspiration: Shark Infested Grounds
Welcome back to Mappuccino! Things are starting to take shape :)
This week introduces the start of three new segments:
1) Cartographer’s Choice - A really cool map (not made by me)
2) Keep of the Week - A really cool castle (also not made by me)
3) Point of Inspiration - A really cool POI (also also not made by me)
Simple enough, right?
I might add or substitute a few new ones in the future, we will see!
Typically I will place my main ideas and my map progress/updates here in this section (but I don’t have any today other than this information)!
Cheers!

Cartographer’s Choice - The Sesshinterlands
Okay, I can’t be the only one who thinks of how cool this map would look framed in a home office!
(Seriously though!
I stumbled across this map on the Wonderdraft subreddit and could not keep my eye off it. The map itself is a masterclass of combining various bodies of water in an elite manner. There are oceans, gulfs, bays, coasts, isles, and even capes, but they are combined in such a natural way that from a distance, you might miss it!
Overall, this map is an absolute masterpiece!
Keep of the Week - Krivoklat Castle (Bohemia, Czech Republic)

Often, it can be easy for worldbuilders and fantasy map-makers to forget that castles do not always have to be solely for defense or located in the middle of a metropolis. The Krivoklat Castle serves as a great example of a beautiful castle located in a more rural setting.
The reddish/orange hue of the roof adds a very nice contrast to the castle’s surroundings,
Point Of Inspiration - Svalbard Global Seed Vault (Norway)

The first time I remember hearing ‘seed vault,’ I thought, ‘Huh… that’s dumb… oh wait… that’s actually genius!’ I think that nearly every fantasy realm could benefit from having something similar to a seed vault POI.
In order to accomplish this, I would recommend selecting a resource that seems to have very little surface value upfront but could have massive value in the future. This could lead to some great plot twists or discoveries for characters that could affect the larger world.
